How much does it cost to fully renovate a house in Calgary?

What Impacts the Cost of House Renovation in Calgary?

There are number of factors that influence cost of renovation. Here are the 2 biggest factors that estimator from Home & House renovation, Justin, picked:

  1. Quality of Material - How much finishing quality do you want? (e.g., Do you care if kitchen countertop is marble or granite?, Do you want custom made cabinets?)

  2. Size of Project (what to include and what to exclude) - It is about determining what you are going to include in your full home renovation. Do you want affordable renovation that will bring your home up to standard OR do you want to include everything in your list that will make your home the best home in your neighborhood?

Justin says that depending on these factors, you can expect to spend as little as $10,000 dollar for doing only the most important job or upwards of $60,000 if you want high quality finishing that will make your home exceptional. Moreover, the total cost will depend on how much you are willing to spend in each of the major areas in your home such as kitchen and bathroom. So we advise to come up with a focal point of your home if your budget is limited and create a priority list for areas you want renovated.

Example:

For Olivia, Kitchen is the most important area as she is a cooking enthusiast. So within her 20k budget, she wants to spend most if not all of her budget toward making her kitchen modern and beautiful. So she creates a priority list that looks something like this:

My Plan

Budget: 20K

Priority:

  1. I want a new Kitchen Cabinets that are spacious so I can put away my stuff.

2. I want a kitchen island with seating option so I can sit down in the morning and brew my coffee.
